New Head of School

We are excited to announce that Saint Thomas More Academy has hired Kevin Powers as our next Head of School. Mr. Powers will begin work at STMA on June 1st, 2023.

Mr. Powers brings a wealth of experience in leading and managing faculty and staff, in creating a dynamic school culture among students and families, in strategic planning, in unifying stakeholders around the mission of Catholic education, and in setting up and managing all the operations of a school.  

In Mr. Powers’ own words: “I am excited to take my 14 years of Catholic education experience and bring it to STMA to help it in its next phase of growth and development.  The school has a very strong foundation and I believe my skills and experiences will help to build upon that foundation with the support of the school board, parents, staff, students, and community.”

Mr. Powers is currently the Managing Director of the School Finance and Patrons Program of the Big Shoulders Fund, overseeing 32 schools’ budgets totalling $36 million annually. He has coached ten to fifteen school Principals a year, helping them create multi year strategic plans. Previously, he was Superintendent of the Catholic school system of the Diocese of St. Cloud, MN, and the Principal of Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic School in Chicago, IL. Mr. Powers and his wife Molly have two daughters,  both of whom will be attending STMA next school year.
